The existing Navy microwave system was utilized to establish a high-bandwidth, 2-way communication system. Computers installed on the towers are connected to the Skidaway Institute LAN through a microwave link/dedicated phone line. The bandwidth of the Navy's microwave system is 1.5 MHz (equivalent to a T1 line). Internet communication protocols are used for transmission of data.
